Here’s some photos from our shoot with Mark Richards taken outside our favourite boozer The Royal Sovereign in east London.
Mark is one of the best band photographers around and it was ace working with him – hope to do more projects with him soon. He’s photographed the likes of Slaves, Wonk Unit, Maid of Ace and loads more. Mark currently has an exhibition of some of his work at The Crown in Hastings so get yourself down there if you’re in the area.
P.S Exciting news about our Christmas single coming soon!
What a blast we had at Munster Raving Loony Party in Spain earlier this month. We were dead excited as it was our first trip out of the UK. Fifteen of us, ukuleles stuffed in our handbags, headed out to Tarragona to enjoy three days of garage punk and rock’n’roll in a beautiful setting on the Spanish coast. We discovered loads of brilliant bands, and as this year’s festival was ‘The Bearded Lady Edition’, nearly all of them had at least one female member which of course we loved. Highlights were Cheating Hearts, Las Marlenes, The Jackets and Thee Jezebels and we got to swim in the pool and sea, make loads of new friends and generally hang out drinking booze, which is what we do best.
Big thanks to Daz and his crew for putting on an amazing fun-packed weekend and inviting us to play. Thanks to The X-Men for lending us their bass.
These fab photos are by Georgie Grainger from www.gggphotography.co.uk.
Lorna’s did one of her ace drawings (more of them here) of us….
And thank you to Steven Tagg-Randall for capturing our second set on film…
Anyway, we totally recommend that you get yourself to this festival next year, cos you will have a wonderful time.
A brand new video for our original tune Fight Song is due to land in a couple of weeks! Photographer Simon Rich came along to the shoot in London’s 12 Bar to capture some behind the scenes action!
Fight Song is one of five original tunes on our forthcoming album Too Drunk To Pluck – set for release August 2014 – and we’re having a launch party at New Cross Inn in south London.

As a tribute to the bands who changed our lives, we recreated 12 iconic punk album sleeves and made them into an amazingly brilliant 2012 calendar. The sleeves show the pUKEs in similar poses to the original band members.
We play covers of punk songs, and thought it would be fun to have a go at the sleeve art too. Albums that have been ‘pUKEd’ include The Clash’s London Calling, Blondie’s Parallel Lines, the Damned and the Ramones’ first albums and Germ Free Adolescents by Xray Spex. The calendar is dedicated to the bands who have inspired us, influenced us, challenged us and given us so many fun times over the years.
The photos were taken on location around London and in the studio of official pUKEs photographer Diana More. pUKE member, graphic designer and all round cool chick Lorna Tiefholz took care of the artwork and layout.
We had exhibitions of the sleeves at Filthy MacNasty’s in London and Norwich Arts Centre. The exhbitions were sponsored by Art Vinyl, who kindly lent us their awesome frames.
